Super Junior World Tour – Super Show 9 : Road in Singapore

It’s been almost 3 years since I last went to a live concert. And I’m glad that it’s Super Show 9.

Now, I’m going to get a little self-indulgent from this point onwards because there’s so much to savour.

Warning: Spoilers ahead. Proceed at your own risk.

Here are 9 things about Super Show 9 : Road in Singapore:

#1 – Memorable Ments

This time around, Kyuhyun upgraded his ment by…speaking Singlish!

Super Junior fans would know that SPY is Super Junior’s nemesis when it comes to its choreography – they always fail at dancing to the song.

No, they did not have a full performance of the song at the concert but we did to get to see more of it than their previous attempts at dancing to the song. Thanks to Kyuhyun and his team work with Ryeowook during one of the ments.

#2 – Spectacular Stages

I was pleasantly surprised that Burn The Floor opened the show and what a performance! The red ribbons made such great visuals to the performance.

I also loved the screens during Callin’. They provided an intimate, close-up shot of every member.

During D&E’s performance, a set of lighting was lowered just slightly above the performers to provide different lighting angles. I’ve never seen anything like that and I have to say: It. Was. Spectacular.

#3 – Unexpected Appearance from Classical Musicians

In every Super Show, there’s always a fun segment where Super Junior plays dress up – and they’ve dressed up as everything from fruits/vegetables, animals, Elsas from Frozen to super heros.

Hands down to their creativity. Not only did they dress up as classical musicians, they even remade some of their songs – classical music-style. Classily hilarious!

#4 – Stylish in Denim

My heart skipped more than a beat when the Super Junior members appeared wearing denim.

Cool. Stylish. Charming. Enough said.

#5 – Talking Crabs

Super Junior can’t stop talking about chilli and pepper crabs whenever they are in Singapore.

So jealous of those chilli and pepper crabs, because Leeteuk missed them more than he missed his Singapore fans.

They were his energy sustenance for the concert, with the ‘pepper’ level wearing down as the concert proceeded. Apparently, he ate 5 crabs on that day.

#6 – Emotional Eunhyuk

Eunhyuk was apologetic to fans who went to the cancelled Philippines leg of Super Show 9 in August. He also got emotional towards the end of the concert when he shared how in the past month, he had felt and an empty space in his heart.

It must have been hard for Eunhyuk to have to put on a happy front and perform after the loss he went through. The fans all understand, Hyukjae.

#7 – Couple’s bias

During the last ment, the Super Junior members spotted a couple in the audience and found out that they are both Super Junior fans. Leeteuk, apparently, is the wife’s bias. When asked who his favourite member in Super Junior is, the husband said that it’s Heechul – which sent Leeteuk into a ‘collapse’ when he heard that.

Yes, we missed you, Heechul.

#8 – Happiness and the Thank You Train

During the last song, Happiness, Leeteuk led his members – like a mother duck would lead her ducklings – around the concert venue to show their appreciation to the fans. It was heartwarming to see, as they got into line behind Leeteuk.

As they went around, it was hard not to feel their sincerity and appreciation to the fans for attending the concert.

#9 – Giving their Best for the Fans

Super Junior arrived the night before the concert and was at the concert venue early in the morning for rehearsals. Ryeowook mentioned that he saw how exhausted his members were backstage but still doing their best to put up a good show.

I’m sure the fans could see that Super Junior really gave their everything during the concert, as always.
